"Ramayana-Mahabharata is the History of India's Greatness !"

July 25, 2025 - Ramayana and Mahabharata are not myths or mere epics; they are the radiant history of India, as demonstrated by astronomer Shri Nilesh Oak, who has conclusively proven this with irrefutable evidence. Taking advantage of Shri Oak's visit to Pune, two lectures were organized on this day by the 'Aakar' unit of the Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha (MKSSS).

The first lecture, titled 'Importance of Timekeeping – Scientific Rewriting of Indian History,' was held in the auditorium of the 'School of Fashion Technology' in Narhe. Students from this college, along with students from Vision English Medium School, attended the lecture. Dr. Dhananjay Bhandari from Vision School conducted the program and expressed gratitude. Members of the management board, CA Abhay Kulkarni, was also present on stage. Dr. Garima Bhalla, Principal of 'School of Fashion Technology,' and Mrs. Vrushali Sahastrabuddhe, Principal of Vision English Medium School, felicitated Shri Nilesh Oak. In his insightful introduction, Dr. Bhandari emphasized the need to connect ancient timekeeping methods with modern systems.

In his lecture, Shri Oak began by reviewing world history. He noted that while Herodotus is said to have written the history of the world, he only documented the history of the known world. He further explained that history often contains a mix of truths and falsehoods, as described by Adi Shankaracharya. He also discussed the Greek scholar Megasthenes' original 'Indica,' which was lost over time, but was later revived using excerpts attributed to him.

Shri Oak emphasized that understanding past mistakes is crucial for progress and that history plays a significant role in defining our fundamental concepts. He quoted renowned British author George Orwell, who stated, 'To enslave someone, erase their history.' Therefore, studying history meticulously is essential to preserve our identity. He argued that India does not need to fabricate a fictional history to present itself as great; it already possesses a proud history. In contrast, he mentioned that the United States created a narrative of greatness, leading its citizens to believe in their country's superiority.

Shri Oak clarified the difference between 'history' and 'Itihas', stating that while 'history' focuses on chronology, ' Itihas' provides guidance in simple language along with the chronological events. He criticized the neglect of timekeeping studies, which has led to the teaching of erroneous historical timelines, such as the belief that the Ramayana occurred after the Mahabharata or the Aryan invasion theory. He advocated for a scientific rewriting of history, using astronomical references found in ancient literature to establish accurate timelines.

He cited examples like Copernicus's 16th-century heliocentric theory, which was anticipated by Saint Dnyaneshwar in the 13th century, and similar references in the Ramayana and Mahabharata. According to his research, the Mahabharata war occurred in 5561 BCE, approximately 7,500 years ago, and the Ramayana took place 7,000 years earlier. He also found astronomical references in the Rigveda and methods of timekeeping based on constellations, which further corroborate these dates. He likened these findings to solving a jigsaw puzzle; once the correct definitions are understood, many pieces fall into place, naturally increasing pride in India's heritage.

The second lecture by Shri Nilesh Oak, titled 'Astronomical Understanding of Ramayana and Mahabharata,' was held in the Ichalkaranji Hall, Karvenagar on the same day. Students from Mahilashram High School and K.B. Joshi Institute of Information Technology attended. On stage were Mrs. Shobha Kamble, Principal of Mahila Ashram High School, CA Abhay Kulkarni, and Dr. P.V.S. Shastry, Secretary of MKSSS. Mrs. Shubhangi Deshpande of Mahila Ashram High School conducted the program, and CA Abhay Kulkarni delivered the introductory speech, stating, 'Before proudly declaring that our country is the greatest, it is important to understand why it is great.

Shri Oak began by addressing the skepticism regarding the historical authenticity of the Ramayana and Mahabharata, particularly prevalent in India. He explained that his research was based on the five elements described in Nyaya Darshana. He identified over 600 astronomical references in the Ramayana and 300 in the Mahabharata. For instance, during the Mahabharata war, Sage Vyasa is said to have seen Arundhati moving ahead of Vasistha. These names correspond to stars in the Saptarishi constellation. Determining when this alignment occurred led to the conclusion that it was between 10,000 and 4,500 BCE.

Further studies on Bhishma's Nirvana date indicated that the Mahabharata war took place between 7,000 and 5,000 BCE. Analysis of the positions of the Sun, Moon, and other planets confirmed that the war occurred in 5561 BCE. Additional research revealed that the Arabian Sea's water level suddenly rose by 15 meters during this period, aligning with the submergence of Dwarka. Genetic studies also showed a significant skew in the male-to-female population ratio, indicating a large-scale massacre, consistent with the events described in the Mahabharata.

Shri Oak also addressed the mention of four-tusked elephants in the Ramayana, which was previously considered impossible. However, post-Darwinian excavations have uncovered evidence of such creatures existing around 14,000 years ago, aligning with the Ramayana period. He also pointed out that Greek historian Megasthenes's 'Indica' and Herodotus's writings describe figures resembling Shri Krishna and Shri Rama, suggesting that local language influences led to different names, but the descriptions match.

After these two lectures, the students asked many questions to Mr. Oak. He gave simple and relevant answers to all these questions. If we validate our history with new scientific standards, then we will gain true self-awareness. However, for this, we need to have the patience to understand the definition of this history and the willingness to put in the effort for research, was the message Mr. Nilesh Oak conveyed to everyone through his lectures.

Many students and teachers also benefited from these lectures virtually through the YouTube link. The lectures were concluded with ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Pasayadan’ respectively.
