Bhoomi Poojan Ceremony for 'Chintan Angan' Project at MKSSS
The first structure of the Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha (MKSSS), the hut of Maharshi Karve, is soon to be preserved and transformed into a new form. Adjacent to this hut, a unique 'Chintan Angan' (roughly translated as ‘Courtyard of Thoughts’) is being developed to encourage reflection among all students, teachers, staff, and visitors. The Bhoomi Poojan Ceremony for this project was held on May 23, 2025 at the institution.
Veteran industrialist and Chairman of Force Motors, Shri. Abhay Firodia, along with Shri. Nandkishore Rathi, trustee of the Tarachand Ramnath Seva Trust and senior construction professional, were the chief guests at the event. Maharashtra's Minister for Higher and Technical Education, Shri. Chandrakant Dada Patil, was also scheduled to attend but could not due to unforeseen circumstances. Representing the institution, the following officials Shri. Ravindra Dev, Chairman, Smt. Vidya Kulkarni, Vice-Chairperson, Board Members - Shri. Jayant Inamdar, CA Abhay Kulkarni, Shri. Kiran Barate, Smt. Seema Kamble, Secretary - Dr. P. V. S. Shastri and Deputy Secretary Smt. Kanchan Satpute were present.
The formal ceremony took place in the Ichalkaranji Hall within the institution's main campus. Prior to the event, a presentation detailing the objectives and design of the 'Chintan Angan' was shown to the attendees. Following rituals and the singing of the Ashram Geet, Shri. Ravindra Dev, the Chairman to MKSSS, delivered the inaugural address. He traced the history of Maharshi Karve's hut and emphasized the importance of preserving such inspirational structures.
The dignitaries were felicitated, and architects Mrs. Swati Sahastrabuddhe and Mr. Saurabh Joshi, along with contractor Mr. Sagar Pawar, were also honoured for their contributions to the project.
In his address, Shri. Nandkishore Rathi lauded the century-long work of the institution, describing it as a significant social endeavour. He expressed his trust's alignment with the institution's objectives and a keen interest in participating in such initiatives.
Shri. Abhay Firodia remarked that Maharshi Karve was a visionary who recognized and nurtured the immense potential within women. He highlighted that Karve's efforts were not just about addressing the plight of helpless women but also about awakening and developing the latent capabilities in all women. He commended the 'Chintan Angan' as a noble initiative to inspire reflection on nation-building.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Vidya Kulkarni and a rendition of 'Pasaydan' by Mrs. Aishwarya Paranjape. The program was anchored by Shri. Devdatta Bhingarkar, a professor from the MKSSS's School of Media.
