63rd Death Anniversary of Maharshi Karve

Date: 9 November 2025 — On the occasion of the 63rd death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Maharshi Dhondo Keshav Karve (Anna), a special prayer meeting was organized this morning at 8:00 a.m. in the Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha.

 

Present at the event were the institution’s trustee Mr. Rajendra Jog, management committee members Mr. Jayant Inamdar and CA Abhay Kulkarni, Secretary Dr. P. V. S. Shastri, Deputy Secretary Mrs. Kanchan Satpute, Head of the Finance Department Mrs. Sheetal Dandavate, along with other dignitaries, heads of various units of the institution, staff, and a large number of students. Members of the family of the late Mrs. Kundatai Nene, granddaughter of Maharshi Karve, were also present on this occasion.

 

The dignitaries performed a ritual offering (pooja) at the memorial site of Maharshi Karve, Mrs. Bayabai Karve, and the institution’s first life worker Mrs. Parvatibai Athavale, located in the main premises of the institution at Karvenagar. This was followed by a collective singing of the institution’s Ashram Geet (institutional anthem).

 

On this occasion, management committee member and chairman of the MKSSS Finance Committee, CA Abhay Kulkarni, addressed the gathering. He said, "It is often said that life need not be long, but great. However, if we look at Anna’s life, it was both long and great. The consistency and dedication seen in Maharshi Karve’s work, along with the active support and participation of his wife Baya Karve in all good causes — these are the qualities we should all strive to imbibe."

 

After the program, all attendees paid floral tributes at Maharshi Karve’s memorial. Subsequently, the dignitaries visited and offered their respects at Maharshi Karve’s statue in Kothrud.
