MKSSS Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha for the financial year 2025–26 was held in a pleasant and cordial atmosphere on 25 July 2026. The meeting was organized at the Dhondu Mama Sathe Auditorium in the campus of Cummins College of Engineering for Women.

 

The meeting was chaired by the President of the institution, Smt. Smita Ghaisas. The other dignitaries present were Vice Presidents Shri. Shashikant Sutar, Shri. Kedar Shalgar, Dr. Dhananjay Kelkar, Shri. Sagar Dhole Patil, and Smt. Smita Kulkarni; Trustees Shri. Milind Lele and Shri. Rajendra Jog; Chairman Shri. Ravindra Dev; Vice Chairman Dr. Anand Lele; Chairman of the Finance Committee CA Abhay Kulkarni; Secretary Dr. P. V. S. Shastri; along with a total of 60 members. The meeting commenced with the collective rendition of the institution's Ashram Geet.

At the outset, tribute was paid to members, donors, and others associated with MKSSS who had passed away during the previous year. A comprehensive review of the MKSSS’s major achievements over the past year was then presented to the members respectively by Dr. Shastry and Shri. Ravindra Dev.

 

Highlights included the 'Shrimati Rahatoon Ali Nesa Memorial National Award' conferred upon Cummins College of Engineering for Women, Pune, as the Best Women's Engineering College in India; the grant of autonomous status to Cummins College of Engineering for Women, Nagpur; the award of 'A' Grade by NAAC to Dr. Bhanuben Nanavati College of Architecture for Women; the 'Excellence in Design' award presented to the School of Fashion Technology (SOFT), Pune, at the Times Education Icons 2025 awards; progress towards establishing a Deemed-to-be University; proposed initiatives on the land at Nandoshi; the Thalassemia Awareness Campaign being conducted for students' health; energy conservation achieved through various green initiatives; and the ongoing project of documenting the Samstha history.

 

Members expressed special appreciation that the AGM could be held much earlier than usual, as the annual audit had been completed in June itself. The audited financial statements and the annual report for the previous year were unanimously approved.

 

As the tenure of the institution's President and Vice Presidents is due to conclude in September, the election process for these positions was also conducted during the meeting. Accordingly, all the existing Vice Presidents were unanimously re-elected for another five-year term and were felicitated on the occasion. In addition, Smt. Smita Kulkarni was elected unopposed as the new President of the institution. She will formally assume office on 27 September, upon the completion of the current President's tenure. The meeting also felicitated the institution's auditors and its senior-most member.

 

In her presidential address, Smt. Smita Ghaisas praised the institution's unique work culture and expressed satisfaction that, unlike many commercial organizations, it has never transformed into an "education industry." She stated that the noble ideals of Maharshi Karve remain deeply rooted in the institution, expressing confidence that it would continue to progress steadily in the years ahead.

 

The meeting concluded formally with the recitation of Pasaydan, followed by refreshments shared by all the participants.
