1 May 2026 – On the occasion of International Labour Day and Maharashtra Day, a special program was organised today at Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha. The event began at the main campus in Karvenagar with the offering of respects at the memorial of Maharshi Karve. This was followed by the hoisting of the flag by the institution’s Secretary, Dr. P. V. S. Shastri, to mark Maharashtra Day.

Distinguished present included Vice-Chairman Dr. Anand Lele, Managing Committee Member Smt. Uma Joshi, CA Abhay Kulkarni, Deputy Secretary Smt. Kanchan Satpute, and renowned astronomer Shri. Nilesh Oak.
After the flag hoisting, the national anthem and the state anthem were sung collectively. Prof. Prakash Pise from Parvatibai Teachers’ Training College addressed the gathering, explaining the significance of Maharashtra Day and Labour Day. He noted that from common citizens to prominent leaders, many contributed significantly to the movement for a united Maharashtra, including Mumbai. He also mentioned that Maharshi Dhondo Keshav Karve himself publicly demanded a united Maharashtra in front of then Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his 100th birthday, marking his important contribution to the movement.
Dr. P. V. S. Shastri also interacted with the audience. He emphasized that to preserve Maharashtra’s identity, people must recognize their own cultural roots. He urged everyone to use their mother tongue more frequently in daily life to maintain its richness. He also appealed to all to plant and nurture at least one tree this year as a step toward making Maharashtra more prosperous.
As the school examination results had recently been announced, top-ranking girl students from various schools were felicitated with awards by the dignitaries. The program was compered and concluded with a vote of thanks by Smt. Pallavi Samel from Mahilashram School.
