Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha, (MKSSS), Pune has well established hostels for rural students called “Mahilashram Vasatigriha”. This hostel is catering girls from all over Maharashtra.

The hostel provides excellent boarding facilitation to poor girls from rural and tribal areas; to explore educational opportunities. Mahilashram Vasatigriha is more than a simple boarding station. Absolute efforts are concentrated on the overall development of every student in the hostel equipping her with excellent communication skills and tuning soft skills. Co-curricular activities like sports and cultural events are also encouraged by providing them necessary facilities and equipments.

Donors under Dattak Palak Yojana provide a lot of support to the needy girls. All round development of girls is ensured through careful grooming, celebrating festivals, holding competitions and get-to-gathers with donors and well wishers. Mahilashram Vasatigriha comprises Kashibai Vasatigriha, Venubai Vasatigriha, Vidyalaya Vasatigriha and Chitale Bandhu Vasatigriha.

Around 1400 girls live together, breaking the barriers of caste, religion and income, 150 court committed students, 400 fully dependent on MKSSS for their food and living and 200 students partly dependent on the MKSSS.

The hostel provides a cot, a study table, a chair and a cupboard for each student. Every hostel building has solar heated water facility, water cooler, common TV room, common reading room etc. Adequate dining facilities are available for all students. Hostels have indoor games facilities. Food court caters variety of food to suit all tastes. Students are accommodated on the basis of merit, family background and their financial condition.

The hostel environment is highly secure, with comfortable rooms and medical attendant present for 24 hours.
